1923 - Oil is discovered in Signal Hill California.
1928 - Ed Kuster began HK Instruments providing 3" OD Single Shot survey system for directional oil drilling utilizing a spun copper float with bar magnets. The company developed and manufactured directional tools teaming up with John Eastman (later of Eastman Whipstock) who ran the tools in the field.
1945 - Don Kuster Sr. joins the company.
1946 - The Angle Compass Unit/Photoinclinometer was developed using the hemispherical float.
1950 -HK Instruments incorporates to become V.E. Kuster Co. Inc.
1951 - The Multi-Shot Survey System which used 6mm movie film was developed and introduced into the marketplace.
1952 - Kuster Company, seeing an opportunity to provide innovation, quality and service in the oilfield worldwide began manufacturing and marketing the bottom hole pressure gauges for which we are now globally known. In the years since, we have designed and implemented dozens of improvements which have resulted in mechanical tools which are more rugged, more accurate and more cost effective.
Over the next 40 years, Kuster Co. continued to design and manufacture state of the art measurement tools which have been used throughout the world to survey and record information for the discovery and production of oil and gas products.
The 1970's and 1980's brought boom and bust times to the suppliers and producers of the global oilfield.
Kuster Company consistently continued to respond to the ever increasing technological needs of our customers through the introduction of electronic instruments, and ongoing upgrades to our mechanical instruments, including improved accuracy and the ability to withstand higher downhole temperatures.

1997 - An important year for Kuster Company. With the introduction of the Memory Production Logging Tool (KPLT), we are building on our goal to provide the oil and gas industry a continually advanced product. The KPLT is a high speed, data driven, autocalibrating data acquisition system. It includes electronics, pressure tool, temperature tool, gamma ray/casing collar locator, batter pack, along with a choice of continuous or full bore spinner.
